Nutella Swirled Banana Bread

The great thing about shopping at Costco is that when you the kids just have to have Nutella, you are forced into buying a jumbo 26 ounce twin pack.  Fifty-two ounces.  That's a lot of Nutella!  Then your mind starts working..... Nutella and banana sandwiches..... Nutella frosting..... How about some Nutella banana bread?

Look.  Even the bread looks happy!

The key to the Nutella swirl is incorporating the Nutella into a cup of the batter and then swirling.
Breakfast never looked so good!

NUTELLA SWIRLED BANANA BREAD

Wet Ingredients:
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup canola oil
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
3 Tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Dry Ingredients:
2 cups white whole wheat flour (or all-purpose)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease a non-stick 5x9x3 inch loaf pan.  In a large bowl, beat bananas until smooth.  Add oil and sugar.  Beat until smooth again.  Add eggs, milk and vanilla and beat until smooth.

Whisk together dry ingredients.  Add dry ingredients to bowl and mix until just combined.

Soften 1/2 cup Nutella in a microwave safe bowl for about 30 seconds.  Add one cup of batter to the Nutella and mix until combined.

Pour half of banana mixture into a greased loaf pan.  Pour half of Nutella mixture on top of that.  Layer the remaining banana mixture and top with remaining Nutella mixture.  Insert a knife into the batter and make some gentle swirl motions.

Bake about 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.  Cool in pan for 10 minutes.  Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.  Makes 1 loaf.
